Metrology Courses
Our courses are built from a knowledge bank of metrology best practice, metrology tools and techniques, and real industrial applications. If we do not have a standard course that fits your needs, we can build one quickly from our knowledge bank to meet individual company requirements, compiling a course that is both professional and bespoke in its content and delivery.
One-Day Modular Courses
First Principles of Measurement
A one-day course, focusing on the core and fundamental principles of measurement. Instruction in the use of basic measuring equipment and first principle techniques. Introduction to good practice and hands-on experience of first principle (non-CNC) measuring tools. Held at Coventry University’s Institute for Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering (AME). Candidate numbers are limited so that students receive appropriate time for engagement with the teaching team. The course is delivered through a variety of blended learning including lectures and activity sessions.
Principles of Coordinate Measurement
A one-day course, focused on the underpinning knowledge needed to understand coordinate measurement, held at Coventry University’s Institute for Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering (AME). Candidate numbers are limited so that students receive appropriate time for engagement with the teaching team. The course is delivered through a variety of blended learning including lectures and activity sessions, including but not limited to 3D measurement, alignment, geometry, and associated application to relevant instrument types.
Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
A one-day course focused on the interpretation and application of manufacturing engineering technical product specification, this covers both dimensional and geometrical tolerances (GD&T).
Held at Coventry University’s Institute for Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering (AME). Candidate numbers are limited so that students receive appropriate time for engagement with the teaching team. The course is delivered through a variety of blended learning including lectures and activity sessions.
An Introduction to Process Control
A one-day course covering the tools, processes and reports associated with basic statistical process control (SPC), held at Coventry University’s Institute for Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering (AME). Candidate numbers are limited so that students receive appropriate time for engagement with the teaching team. The course is delivered through a variety of blended learning including lectures and activity sessions.
Introducing Measurement Uncertainty
One-day open course focused on the introduction of measurement uncertainty, data manipulation, standards and task-specific budgets. Held at Coventry University’s Institute for Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering (AME). Candidate numbers are limited so that students receive appropriate time for engagement with the teaching team. The course is delivered through a variety of blended learning including lectures and activity sessions.
Specialist Metrology Courses
Metrology Masterclass
A five-day course, focused on industrial dimensional measurement and covering four core knowledge areas: application of metrology principles, measurement and metrology assessment, continuous improvement in metrology systems, and principles behind measurement equipment technology, sensors and measurement techniques.
Five consecutive days, Monday to Friday, held at Coventry University’s Institute for Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering (AME). Candidate numbers are limited so that students receive appropriate time on equipment and engagement with the teaching team. The course is delivered through a variety of blended learning including lectures and activity sessions.
Dimensional Measurement (NPL) Level 1
This three-day training course introduces dimensional metrology and its underpinning principles and methods.
Dimensional Measurement (NPL) Level 2
Over four days, this classroom-based training course builds on the knowledge and skills acquired from the Dimensional Measurement User (NPL Level 1) course.
