The Lanchester library sits just off Gosford Street between the William Morris and Engineering and Computing buildings. It's five floors of all the resources and aid you could need to make the best of every assignment, seminar or lecture you need to take on.
The Library has undergone major renovations over the last few years including refits of all the floors and a new entrance incorporating a café.
The Library is normally open 24 hours a day 364 days a year to meet the needs of its customers. However, we have had to make some changes due to COVID-19 to make our spaces as safe as possible. This includes reduced opening hours. Please see our Libguide for current opening hours.
You will only be allowed onto the floors of the library if you have pre-booked a study space or an appointment. You must have your ID card and the booking confirmation to enter. You can however collect and return books and use the quick print terminals in the Welcome area of the Library without a booking. You will need to send your work to print in advance or from your mobile device via remote anywhere. Study spaces are available for 1-4 hours (or up to 8 hours on for all spaces on Floor 1, spaces with a Mac and those with an adjustable height table), and you can book up to 7 slots per week. . All spaces are for individual study only in-line with government guidelines. All floors are currently designated as silent except the Ground floor where you can engage with online classes. Please remember to bring some headphones. Face coverings should be worn when moving around the Library. Unfortunately, we have had to suspend our visitor access schemes including the Sconul and sixth form access schemes.
