Knowledge Exchange Framework: Our Impact

The Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF), developed by Research England, is a way of assessing universities’ ability to use the knowledge they gain from their research activities to positively support businesses, organisations, community groups and residents.

Research England is part of UK Research and Innovation. It is a public body which funds higher education providers like Coventry University to undertake research and share knowledge and expertise with businesses, wider groups, and communities to benefit the economy and society.

The KEF assessment of how English universities carry out their knowledge exchange activities, takes place every year.

Coventry University has a commitment to sharing its new-found research knowledge and academic expertise with businesses as well as supporting the public with valuable programmes and initiatives. It aims to improve engagement every year and KEF enables the university to measure how effectively it works with regional businesses and communities.

We regularly engage with local businesses and the community to understand their needs and work collaboratively with them to inform our research and development activities and increase economic impact.

It’s great that the KEF recognises the universities hard work in their annual assessment, and we will continue to work proactively with businesses and the community to share our knowledge.
