Award nomination

Learning and blended learning are now well integrated into teaching and training. This method of education is being used from preschool through to postgraduate study, not to mention in business and industry.

In 2015, ACPIL established the e-Learning Excellence Awards to showcase innovative examples of e-Learning use. These examples are presented through case histories which can be written by academics, teachers, business professionals or students. We are pleased to announce the Coventry University Virtual Award tour is a finalist for the ECEL award, and as finalists we were welcomed to present at the European Conference on e-Learning in Berlin, Germany on the 28-29 October 2021.

In 2022 we were nominated for further awards, these included being shortlisted for a University Alliance award, Times Higher Education Award in the category of technological and digital innovation of the year and a prestigious Pioneers award Shapein the area of digital innovation.

Student Testimonials

Participation in the Virtual World Tour gave me the opportunity to exercise that sense of adventure and curiosity about foreign countries in a new way. The content of the Virtual World Tour was really interesting.

One week I could be discovering what high and low context cultures are on LinkedIn Learning; the next week I could be exploring what that meant in practice with students at Jiangxi University, China. I engaged with real people who were keen to share their experiences and knowledge of different countries. The ability to access the content on-demand really worked for me.

Michael Chorlton - Coventry University Student

The Virtual World Tour provided me with insightful and educational content, and interesting recommendations about each of the 20+ countries we were able to explore. It gave me the opportunity to travel virtually (as many times as I wanted) and explore new cultures and continents and develop valuable employability skills and gain greater awareness of the sustainability practices in each country.

I absolutely recommend the programme to anyone who wants to travel for free (turns out virtual tickets don’t cost a penny), plus, you’ll develop new skills including leadership and communication skills and learn about the importance and positive impact of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Do you know the only thing that can beat that? Yes, the certificate of completion! It’s definitely worth joining.
