University is a big change and there’s lots of things to get used to. We’re here to help you settle into your new home.

Starting uni can be a daunting experience and it’s normal to feel a bit nervous or unsure. To help you get started with confidence, here’s our top tips for your first few weeks at Coventry University.

Success Coaches

Once you’re enrolled, you’ll be assigned a Success Coach. They’ll make sure you have the support you need to make the most of your course and all that university life has to offer, so do make the most of their expertise.

Peer mentoring

We have partnered with software platform Vygo so you can access peer and mentoring support from day one. Vygo is a great place to reach out for informal support to help you get more familiar with university life.

Students’ Union and Sports

The Students’ Union organises a fantastic social programme throughout the year so you and your fellow classmates can discover Coventry together. We have 55 sports societies and 150 societies in total, ideal for finding likeminded friends or taking up a new sport.

Welcome Week isn’t just about partying and free pizza. It’s your chance to find out everything you’ll need to know to stay happy, healthy, and successful during your time with us. It’s also the perfect time to make new friends and get involved in sports and societies.

Managing your money for the first time can be difficult. If you don’t know where to start, are worried about the cost of living or just want some tips on how to budget as a student.

The Lanchester Library is a vast resource open 24/7, 364 days a year. Library staff provide in-person tours during your first weeks – one not to miss.

Your health and wellbeing are a priority to us, and we understand that it is normal to feel overwhelmed during your first weeks. If you need help, speak to one of the team straight away, we’re here for you!

My top tips for your first weeks are to get your login and ID, check your timetable, attend your classes (make sure to tap in) and explore the campus using Wayfinder. Also, go to events and sign up for volunteering, societies and sports to make friends, gain skills and have fun!
