Project overview

Environmental drivers such as removing lead from engine bearings and fuel efficient engines are creating many new opportunities in the bearing market. Electroplated Lead-free coatings are critical to give the required properties of engine bearings.

Project objectives

The project will examine the dispersion of different types of nano/micro particles using a range of ultrasonic parameters in an electroplating solution. Results from the KTEG will pinpoint the most suitable ultrasonic parameters and particle type for dispersion in the electroplating solution.

  • This short feasibility project produced the platform technology to apply for a Knowledge Transfer Partnership with Daido.
