Novel methods of improved dispersion of particles for the production of composite electroplated coatings
Knowledge Transfer Enterprise Grant (KTEG)
Total value of project
Duration of project
May 2011 - July 2011
Environmental drivers such as removing lead from engine bearings and fuel efficient engines are creating many new opportunities in the bearing market. Electroplated Lead-free coatings are critical to give the required properties of engine bearings.
The project will examine the dispersion of different types of nano/micro particles using a range of ultrasonic parameters in an electroplating solution. Results from the KTEG will pinpoint the most suitable ultrasonic parameters and particle type for dispersion in the electroplating solution.
This short feasibility project produced the platform technology to apply for a Knowledge Transfer Partnership with Daido.
