Applied Economic Analysis and Policy


The Applied Economic Analysis and Policy group focuses on various development and economic policy issues including armed conflict and political instability; natural resource abundance; foreign aid and governance; the role of ICT in the diffusion of knowledge and institutional quality. Particular attention is given to the following key areas:

  • The 'resource curse' and its link to economic destruction;
  • The effect of foreign aid and governance on economic development;
  • Environmental regulations and economic sustainability;
  • The role of ICT in improving institutional quality;
  • Environmental policy, trade and investment flows;
  • Trade liberalisation and the environment.
