Ian is currently responsible for Digital Services, Estates, Infrastructure, FutureLets and serves on several University Group companies as Director or Managing Director and is also CEO of Coventry University Academic Services Ltd. Previously, as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) he led the development of the University’s research and academic portfolio. He was the founding Dean of the then Faculty of Engineering and Computing.

In 2007, he assisted in obtaining funding to establish the Serious Games Institute, which became the internationally leading centre for research into using games to train, engage and educate. Ian established the world’s first masters and undergraduate degree programmes for computer games technology in the late 1990s at Abertay University, Dundee. He also obtained the funding to establish the first games technology research centre and the International Centre for Computer Games Technology, in 1999.

Ian has over 40 years of experience in the higher education sector and has led consultancy for a number of international companies and organisations.
