We are a globally connected university with research collaborations from across the planet and multinational research staff and students.
We give as much priority to high quality research as we give to high quality teaching. Currently we have over 750 researchers (increasing to 2000 by 2021) working in our challenge led interdisciplinary research centres representing niches where Coventry University can be dominant.
Research students are central to the research mission at Coventry University. We have created a Doctoral College to provide centralised research training and to deliver a comprehensive (PhD to Professor) programme of training for our research students and staff.

The basis of our strategy is Research Excellence with Impact. Excellence is defined as a combination of originality, significance and rigour and Impact is the natural development of the University's previous focus on applied research namely research conducted with and for external beneficiaries.
We have a dedicated Enterprise and Innovation team who engage with external beneficiaries to ensure that we maximise the impact of our research.
