E-books

Many of the books issued by the University are provided for you digitally, in the form of e-Books. This is because eBooks provide several advantages.

From September 2019 eBooks will be issued via the digital learning platform BibliU. In previous years we used a different platform called Kortext. See information below about how to access your eBooks on both of these platforms.

eBooks issued in 2019-2020 via BibliU

How do I access books on the BibliU system?

ALL staff and students at Coventry University can access BibliU using their usual University login ID and password – you do not have to take any action to set up an account

Follow one of the links from Moodle (course reading list tab) or go to the website https://bibliu.com/#/landing/home and select Coventry University. In the drop down list of Universities - click the yellow arrow and you will be asked to login with your usual Coventry University ID and password

If eBooks are issued to you as part of your Flying Start entitlement you will be able to access a copy ‘in perpetuity’ via the BibliU platform. This means you will still be able retain the downloaded eBook on your device and access it after you leave university.

In addition to your course reading list, you will be able to access many other eBooks on the BibliU platform covering different subjects. You will be able to read, highlight and make notes in all during the year, however you will only keep (in perpetuity) those assigned to your course reading list and not the additional titles.

Accessibility

BibliU are committed to making sure that their system can be easily used by everyone. They already have some features, such as changing font sizes and colour and supporting ‘text-to-speech’ to help people with reduced vision.

If you have any form of disability and are experiencing specific problems with use of the system, please contact the Flying Start team: flyingstart@coventry.ac.uk and we will try to help you.

Student Guide

There is a Coventry University BibliU Student Guide with lots of information about how to use your eBooks. This will be available as an eBook in BibliU, so you can access it as soon as you register your account.

Can I access my books on different devices?

Yes, you can use the BibliU system on your PC and you can also download specific Apps free of charge to use on Windows, Android or Apple mobile devices.*

Any notes etc. that you make will synchronise across devices.

*The BibliU system is not compatible with Amazon Kindle.

eBooks issued in previous years via Kortext

eBooks issued prior to 2019 used the Kortext platform. If you had eBooks in previous years you can still access them on the Kortext system

As well as reading, the Kortext system lets you add notes and highlight etc. This then synchronises between all your devices. You can also share notes with your fellow students. Some of the eBooks also have added features such as links to other electronic content.

How will my Kortext account be set up?

Your Kortext account was set up for you automatically when your books were issued. You will continue to use that account to access your books.

What do I do if I lose my Kortext password?

If you lose your password follow the instructions on the Kortext FAQ page to reset it. Remember that any emails about the password reset will go to your Coventry University email account.
