Professor Jingjing Xu is Associate Pro Vice Chancellor (China Partnerships and Academic Dean) at Coventry University. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Maritime Economics, a Master’s Degree in Shipping Management, and a PhD degree in Maritime Law. She has extensive teaching and PhD supervision experience, and she is a prolific researcher with over 100 publications on topics relating to maritime law, policy and management. She has led numerous large-scale international research projects with the funding she secured from the EU and other sources and has been invited to serve as Expert Adviser for several very large multi-national research projects in her field. She is also interested in pedagogic research and has conducted a number of projects particularly focusing on international students.

Prior to joining Coventry University, Professor Xu held a number of senior leadership positions at two UK universities, including Associate Dean for Research, Director of an inter-disciplinary research institute on social, policy and enterprise research, Head of Business School, and Pro Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean for a Faculty of Business and Law.

She sits on a number of national and international panels and committees and is a regular reviewer for several leading journals and research funding bodies in the UK and other countries. She holds Adjunct or Visiting professorships at five universities across Sweden, Australia, and China, and in recognition of her achievements in the maritime domain, she was nominated and elected as Fellow of the Royal Institute of Navigation in 2014.
