Her role at the Coventry University Group (CUG) involves several distinctive yet inter-related elements:

  • As Associate Pro Vice Chancellor for China Partnerships, she is the strategic lead at the CUG for China partnerships and operations. Coventry University is a recognised leader in global engagement and has been particularly successful in China with a substantial and sophisticated educational portfolio and innovative collaborative research. Professor Xu oversees a significant number of established strategic partnerships and provides strategic direction for new initiatives involving education, research, enterprise and innovation collaborations with educational institutions, businesses, industries, China national and provincial governments, and various Chinese and UK agencies.

  • In addition to the above academic leadership roles, Professor Xu is also the Managing Director of the ‘China Hub’ which is to be launched in Beijing and will be the largest overseas hub of the CUG. Functioning as the ‘Embassy’ of CUG in China, the Hub is the platform for CUG’s overall operations in China on academic partnership development, student recruitment, development of research, innovation and enterprise collaboration, and promotion of the CUG brand.
  • Professor Xu also oversees the Coventry University Confucius Institute as its Director.
