About us

About us

The School of Health and Care delivers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses for a range of health professions including; Nursing, Midwifery, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics, Paramedic Science and Operating Department practice.

The undergraduate course provision leads to professional registration with either the Nursing and Midwifery Council or the Health and Care Professions Council. In addition we deliver an extensive portfolio of continuing professional development courses and undertake consultancy. The school benefits from excellent partnership arrangements with an extensive range of health and social care providers at local, national and international level who provide practice learning placements, teaching support and key routes into employment.

The school is fully engaged in the university research agenda and works in association with our research centres. Current research interests range from explorations of concepts of caring and compassion in healthcare, developments in advanced practice, to technological advances in high fidelity simulation based education and service user engagement in education.

We are actively engaged with international collaborators and overseas courses, in China, Hong Kong, Greece and Sri Lanka. Students have opportunities to study abroad, undertake courses and subject related field trips and engage in Online International learning with students studying abroad in similar professions.
