The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (HLS) is nationally recognised for its research as well as for its education provision across the life, behavioural, social and health sciences.
HLS have a number of clear research themes and three dedicated research centres, focussing on real world issues, including whole-life span approaches from pre-natal to older adult; psychological and behaviour interventions; pharmaceuticals, biochemical innovations, sports and exercise; health economics; social policy; disease prevention and innovative use of technology whilst continuing to build research within the three schools:

Centre for Sport, Exercise and Life Sciences (CSELS)

CSELS furthers the understanding of fundamental biological pathways and processes, applying biological sciences to advance diagnosis and prevention of disease. To create an inter-disciplinary continuum of expertise covering three key themes: Cellular and Molecular Biosciences; Biological Systems; Health and Disease; and Physical Activity, Exercise and Obesity.
