Focus of our research
The CGAR cluster studies how governance, accountability, and financial strategies shape the ability of organisations to adapt to economic, social, environmental, and technological challenges. Our work looks at corporate finance decisions - such as capital structures, dividend policies and executive behaviour - alongside issues including insider trading, ESG disclosure, audit quality, regulation and corporate social responsibility.
We also examine how financial markets respond to disruption, covering stock, currency and commodity markets, as well as the impact on small and medium-sized enterprises and organisations in both developed and emerging economies. Digitalisation, innovation and industrial development are central themes and we bring specialist expertise in areas such as sports governance.
Our methods range from econometrics and machine learning to qualitative case studies and cross-country comparisons, producing outputs like governance indices, risk metrics and policy recommendations. Partnerships with financial institutions, regulators, industry groups and international organisations ensure that our research is collaborative and globally relevant. We translate our findings into practice through policy briefs, workshops, executive education and targeted stakeholder engagement.
Our aim is to improve governance quality, strengthen organisational resilience, build trust, and support sustainable economic growth in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
