By successfully completing this module and meeting CMI's evidence requirements, you may be able to gain a Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Leadership and Management along with a Level 7 award in Professional Consulting. This will enable you to apply for Chartered Manager status via the qualified route, once all CMI entry criteria have been met. Please visit the CMI website for full details on the criteria to qualify as a Chartered Manager and any applicable fees.

Course information
This online course aims to utilise specialist business software combined with academic theory and international business practice to provide you with a thorough grounding in international business management.
Its broad multidisciplinary approach combines modules that focus on business strategy, international business context and operations, with organisational behaviour and communication skills development. You will be exposed to contemporary management thinking and encouraged to think strategically in the global context, developing an analytical and conceptual approach in key business functional areas.
As you progress through this course, you will be required to engage incrementally with the following intended course learning outcomes so that on successful completion of the course you will be able to:
- Identify and critically evaluate the main features and dynamics of the contemporary business environment and the key ethical, operational, financial and marketing issues facing senior business figures.
- Explain the development and operation of markets for resources, goods and services.
- Identify relevant big data sets and exploit this data to create, evaluate and propose solutions to complex business problems.
- Choose, and be aware of the limitations of, appropriate research techniques and apply these techniques to given problems.

This programme seeks to create business professionals who not only understand the functions and processes that drive business and organisations forward today, and the broad context in which they operate, but who also appreciate the dynamic nature of international business and can respond to new global business trends and lead change successfully.
Even if you come from a non-business background, this course could be beneficial. It adopts a broad, multidisciplinary approach, which covers management and organisational theory, operational requirements, marketing and human resources influences on management, together with a solid understanding of the global trade environment and the complexities of global business issues. This includes exploring both the potential and pitfalls of big data analysis.
Through core modules, you will have the chance to build essential management skills, such as international leadership, international trade management, global markets, entry strategies, and marketing in an international perspective. You will have the opportunity to engage with real business issues from highly innovative companies, ranging from SMEs to large multinational corporations, throughout the whole course.
Using specialist software tools and business simulation software, you will be encouraged to think strategically from the outset, developing the practical skills needed to initiate and implement complex international business projects, as well as greater inter-cultural competence.
You will have the chance to benefit from a multicultural learning experience; you could be studying alongside staff and students from a wide range of nationalities. You’ll be taught by current staff with significant experience of the business world, who have worked as directors and consultants for many large multinational companies, not only in the United Kingdom but also abroad.

The main study themes of this course are:
Global Marketing & Finance: Focusing on intercultural marketing within the dynamic environment of international trade, you will learn how to design global marketing campaigns that target consumers with heterogeneous needs and preferences.
Global Business Environment: We will introduce you to the processes of economic globalisation, and explore how these dynamics shape the contemporary business environment and contribute to the key challenges confronting international businesses in the 21st century.
Strategy & Global Leadership: Provides you with the fundamentals of organisational behaviour, as a lens to understanding business strategy from the firm’s perspective.
Global operations: We will introduce you to the core concepts and theories that are prerequisite for the successful management of an enterprise’s extended global supply chain and logistics function.
Business Analytics & Intelligence: We cover the fundamental statistical concepts and techniques which are applicable in a global big data business environment. You should gain an understanding of the relevant data available to business managers, as well as its limitations, better preparing you to create, evaluate and propose solutions to complex business problems.
Each 15 credit module will consist of around 150 hours activities.

For each module, we will provide engaging video lectures and a variety of interactive content and activities. The online contact between lecturers and colleagues aims to help you stay motivated and committed to learning.
Throughout your online learning, there will be a number of subject specialists, tutors and experience officers there to support your journey and ensure a comprehensive experience.
Academics including module leaders, principal lecturers and associate lecturers will support you throughout your online teaching and learning, encouraging critical debates, facilitating live seminars, and hosting group/peer collaborative sessions.
Student experience officers will be able to help guide you through general questions, support with technical queries, and signpost you to all and any of the appropriate services you may require.
You’ll also have access to a progression coach, as and when you feel any additional support is required. Your progression coach can cover a wide range of mentoring in areas including: practical writing skills, time management, digital/video presentations, etc.

This course will be assessed using a variety of methods which will vary depending upon the module. Assessment methods include the postgraduate business project, reports, presentations, formal examinations and practical coursework.
The Coventry University Group assessment strategy ensures that our courses are fairly assessed and allows us to monitor student progression towards the achieving the intended learning outcomes. Assessments may include exams, individual assignments or group work elements.

The activity time will be made up of a mixture of guided and self-guided study. Students will have access to an experienced team of tutors and lecturers who will support their studies. Each module will have dedicated online tutorials to support the learning.
Throughout the programme, we will refer to international case studies and examples. This means, coupled with the international experience of the course team, you will benefit from the knowledge of lecturers who currently have experience in business environment in many markets around the globe. The other learners on your course may be graduates and professionals from around the world, and you will be encouraged to interact and discuss the course with them. These people may well be the start of your network of professional acquaintances in business management.

Postgraduate international students
The tuition fee that is stated on the course webpage and in the prospectus for the first year of study will apply. We will review our tuition fees each year. For international students, we may increase fees for each subsequent year of study but such increases will be no more than 5% above inflation.
