Physical stock is divided over three floors:

  • Ground Floor: Books 0-303, Study Skills Collections, Read and Relax Collection and Travel Guide Collection.
  • Floor 1: Books 304-599, Folio Books 0-999, Journals A-Z, Law reports
  • Floor 2: Books 600-999, CD/ DVDs/ Printed Music

Media

Many media resources are now streamed online and can be found through Locate, our online catalogue and resource discovery system. The main body of the media collection (DVDs and CDs) can be found on Floor 2 of the Library. The collection includes:

Open access content

Pure is the open access research repository for Coventry University.  The Pure Research Portal provides information about our research centres, academic and postgraduate researchers, as well as providing access to research outputs.

Archives

The archives are for reference use only. Materials in these collections cannot be taken out of the Library. If you have any queries about our archives or wish to make an appointment to view them please go to the archives collections pages or contact Gary Collins, Archivist T. +44 (0)24 7765 7882.

Frederick Lanchester papers and publications

A collection of correspondence, sketchbooks, notebooks, patent applications, manuscripts of published works and photographs relating to his work on aeronautics and motor engineering. These have been recently digitised and are available via our archives catalogue.

Anthony Hobson: J W Waterhouse Archive

Papers, catalogues, slides and drawings of the late Dr Anthony Hobson (an Honorary Research Fellow of Coventry Polytechnic) relating to the artist J.W. Waterhouse. Dr Anthony Hobson who taught for many years as Head of the General Studies Department and Principla Lecturer in the History of Art, was the country’s leading authority on J.W. Waterhouse. 

Archive of Roy Wilfred Wilson

Papers, magazines and books from the collection of graphic designer Roy Wilfred Wilson. 

Richardson Tapes

Recordings of interviews made during research by Kenneth Richardson, Senior Lecturer at Lanchester Polytechnic for his work and publications including the book "Twentieth Century Coventry" (1972). The collection also includes some transcripts of the interviews. Digital copies of the interviews and transcripts are  available from our archives catalogue.

Donnelly & Thoms Material

Audio cassettes, questionnaires and paper transcripts compiled during research for the book The motor car industry in Coventry since the 1890’s: origins, development and structure by David Thoms & Tom Donnelly (published in 1985).

Ellen Terry Memorabilia

Material collected by Coventry University Honorary Life Fellow Celia Fitzhugh. Includes research files on Ellen Terry and her family, the theatre and other actors; photographs, illustrations and postcards, newspaper cuttings, theatre programmes and published books.

University Archives

Some published material including annual reviews; prospectus’; newsletters; university, faculty, and services publications; photographs. Includes some items relating to university predecessors. NB most predecessor material is at Coventry Archives.

Please note that apart from the Lanchester material, most collections are unlisted at the moment.
