Service User and Carer Engagement
Do you use Health and Social Care services?
Do you care for someone who uses Health and Social Care services?
People who use Health and Social Care services and their carers are a growing part of Health and Social Care courses at Coventry University. We value the knowledge, skills and experience of these individuals and the people who care for them.
We are committed to strengthening engagement in all aspects of Health and Social Care programmes in order to influence and shape future Health and Social Care professionals.
There are a number of opportunities for you to become involved with the Faculty, including:
- interviewing people that are thinking about studying at the University;
- attending meetings, which could be about teaching, interviewing or courses;
- sharing your lived experiences with students;
- giving your views about students’ coursework such as presentations or posters;
- giving your feedback to the lecturers about your experience, highlighting areas of the courses that could be improved.
What do service users and carers enjoy about their involvement at the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences?
Receiving student and staff feedback and being able to inspire others.
Highlighting to students what its like 'living with a condition'.
Bridging the gap between academic language and everyday language.
What do students say about service user and carer engagement?
Lots of time can be spent theorising; having the voice of experience from the service user perspective was invaluable.
I loved this session; it brought ‘reality’ into our largely theoretical learning (so far) and placed the service user back at the heart of learning.
If you would you like to share your experiences and knowledge to help shape the Health and Social Care professionals of the future, and would like more information about how you could get involved, please contact us on one of the telephone numbers or the email address below.
