Study with us

Across our Centre for E-Mobility and Clean Growth, we have a thriving student community who are integral to the success of everything we do and who contribute to our wide-ranging research portfolio.

We welcome applications from suitably qualified self-funded or sponsored PhD candidates that relate to our current research themes. Please take a look at our postgraduate opportunities and to apply via the respective process.

Why study with us?

  • Opportunities to work with experts across a range of areas, including, energy storage, fuel cells and hydrogen, power electronics motors & drives and sensors.
  • World-class infrastructure and laboratories
  • Meeting global challenges by developing technology and manufacturing capability for zero-emissions powertrains
  • Advancing new transport solutions in automotive, grid, aerospace and marine sectors.

Stimulating learning environment

The Centre for E-Mobility and Clean Growth benefit from excellent facilities and incredibly close industry links. One of our buildings is the Centre for Advanced Low Carbon Propulsion Systems (CALPS).

Researchers at CALPS enjoy a long-standing partnership with FEV, providing researchers with the associated benefits of industry expertise and access to the testing facilities.

The structure of the centres ensures that researchers in each specific field can operate within a focused environment yet benefit from the expertise of the wider research community, promoting a holistic approach to transport development. This extends to cross-centre collaboration with other university research centres such as the Centre for Computational Science and Mathematical Modelling, Centre for Manufacturing & Materials and Centre for Intelligent Healthcare.
