This course aims to provide a thorough grounding in the theory and practical skills required to apply psychological research, business tools and methods within a variety of organisational settings and corporate cultures.
Through the exploration of business psychology techniques for the promotion of individual wellbeing and organisational success, successful completion of the course helps prepare you for business and organisational psychology roles in management and consultancy, in human resources and many other functions such as learning, training and development, recruitment, health and wellbeing.

This course will cover consumer behaviours, employee engagement and the impact of globalisation on organisational behaviours. This psychology courset focuses on the application of psychological principles, making it suitable for both professionals and those without a background in psychology. You will get an opportunity to develop skills in managing human behaviour and learn how to promote well-being in a business and organisational context.
The course aims to develop skills, experience and confidence in applying a range of psychological principles - from perception, learning and social dynamics, to research methods and business. This course looks at how psychological theories are used in the workplace and how they influence best practice. Within every module, the tutors draw evidence from their real-world consultancy experience, applying psychology to inform a practical understanding.

The course is primarily designed to be studied part-time by students currently in employment.
For each module, we will provide engaging video lectures and a variety of interactive content and activities. The online contact between lecturers and colleagues aims to help you stay motivated and committed to learning.
Each module runs with 15 credits across an academic semester of 13 weeks, requiring an estimated 10 hours study time per week, with the flexibility for students to study from one to two modules per academic semester.
Mixed assessment modes offer students a range of opportunities to demonstrate their achievement of learning outcomes. You will be assessed through a combination of coursework assignments, business plans and activities, all completed online. As part of the degree, you will be expected to develop a business plan related to business psychology using a systematic literature review as support.
On successful completion of the Certificate stage (60 credits) students will be eligible for a Postgraduate Certificate in Business and Organisational Psychology. On successful completion of the Diploma stage (120 credits) students will be eligible for a Postgraduate Diploma in Business and Organisational Psychology. On successful completion of the Master’s stage (180 credits) students will be eligible for a Master’s in Business and Organisational Psychology.
Master’s level awards will be made with a ‘Distinction’, ‘Merit’ or ‘Pass’ grade.
On successful completion you should have achieved the following:
- A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of how psychology can be applied to business, including research and theory in the areas of wellbeing, psychological assessment, learning, training, development, leadership, engagement, motivation, consumer behaviour, marketing and advertising.
- A critical understanding of how psychology can be applied to global, real-world questions, situations, and contexts for the benefit of individuals, teams, and organisations;
- Experiences to develop the skills and confidence needed to apply psychological principles in a real-world business environment.
- A critical understanding of themselves as practitioners, psychology as a science, and the way psychology can be applied in the workplace.
- A critical understanding of psychological research paradigms, research methods, data analyses, theories and knowledge-generation.
- A critical approach to the identification, analysis, evaluation, and application of psychological research evidence and theory (i.e. psychological literatures).
- A range of transferable skills including: working independently and within teams, numerical and reasoning skills, digital literacy, communicating effectively in a variety of media to different audiences, and appropriate self-management strategies to organise your own time and workloads.
- A range of subject-specific skills surrounding critical evaluation, professional and ethical conduct, consultancy and evidence-based practice.
- To demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the principles of consultancy and the theories.
Each 15 credit module will consist of 150 hours activities. The activity time will be made up of a mixture of guided and self-guided study. Students will have access to an experienced team of tutors and lecturers who will support their studies. Each module will have dedicated online tutorials to support the learning.

Postgraduate international students
The tuition fee that is stated on the course webpage and in the prospectus for the first year of study will apply. We will review our tuition fees each year. For international students, we may increase fees for each subsequent year of study but such increases will be no more than 5% above inflation.
