AHRC Doctoral Landscape Awards

We are now accepting Expressions of Interest for self-directed PhD research projects at Coventry University. We invite you to shape and develop your own ambitious research topic in a world-leading arts and humanities research environment.

Coventry University is excited to launch a new doctoral initiative aligned with the AHRC’s  Doctoral Landscape Award, beginning in autumn 2026. Coventry is one of seven higher education institutions in the Midlands region to receive this UKRI funding. Each institution is awarded 15 studentships, per year over five cohorts, with funding running across an eight-year period.

We are offering up to 6 funded PhD studentships in the arts and humanities as part of this major national investment in research talent. Three studentships funded by the AHRC and three funded through institutional support. The scheme will provide scholarships to outstanding PhD candidates, promoting and expanding doctoral research in the arts and humanities. The initiative is in line with our commitment to developing a dynamic and inclusive research culture in the arts and humanities.

Eligible students must undertake research that primarily contributes to arts and humanities disciplines, though interdisciplinary projects with a strong arts and humanities focus will also be welcome.

Coventry University is part of the Midlands 4 Cities Doctoral Training Partnership.
