In more detail...

During this course, you will explore processes of project management in a business environment with the aim of developing your understanding of project management tools and techniques.

With a view to establishing a basis for maintaining optimum management strategies and practices, you will have the chance to learn about the systematic analysis of factors associated with organisational environments, later examining how effective leadership and management of human capital can influence organisational success within an international context.

Over the course of your study, we will introduce key concepts for understanding international human resource management and explore the increase in international logistics trade, as well as the opportunities and threats that can arise when competing in the international market.

As you progress, you will have the opportunity to increase the range and effectiveness of your English language skills in a business and academic context. Looking to the future, we will also help you to identify entrepreneurial and innovation characteristics and skills.

The course is designed to be studied full-time or part-time.

During your study, we’ll provide a mix of engaging videos, live seminars and a variety of interactive content and activities. The online contact between associate lecturers, progression coaches and fellow learners, aims to help you stay motivated and committed to your learning.

Each module runs with 10 or 20 credits across an academic semester of 13 weeks, requiring an estimated 10 to 20 hours of study time per week, made up of directed and self-directed learning. Students have the flexibility to study one to two modules per academic semester.

The underlying focus is on developing your ability to think critically and strategically and to enable you to develop solutions to complex problems within an ever-changing and ambiguous business environment. You can benefit from the innovative and interactive content and activities provided on our online platform, FutureLearn. This opens up opportunities to participate in projects with students from around the world.

One of the key aims of the course is to provide you with experiences of real-life organisations. As such, you will be exposed to real-life case studies, simulations and expert insight to help bring contemporary and theoretical concepts to life and further your knowledge of developing strategies, handling change and managing growth.

There are three main ways that you may be assessed during your modules:

  1. Formative assessment: this is NOT credit-bearing, but we strongly recommend completing formative assessment tasks to receive accurate and useful feedback that may help you develop and practise the skills needed for credit-bearing assessments. Formative assessment can include activities such as peer reviews, quizzes and self-assessment.

  2. CORE assessment: this MAY be credit-bearing, so please check your module guide carefully to confirm. CORE assessments are pass/fail only. They can include activities such as short tests, exams and reports. You are usually given four attempts at any CORE assessment. Check the module guide for more information.

  3. Applied CORE assessment: this will ALWAYS be credit-bearing and therefore essential to passing your module. Applied CORE assessments are scored out of 100. They may include tasks such as essays, reports, video presentations, group work, reflective pieces, exams and scientific posters. The Project Management for Business module consists of an examination. Further details are available during the application stage.

On successful completion of the course, you should be able to:

  • Critically evaluate the global business context and strategic decision-making in organisations within the international arena and in relation to society * Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the global business environment, business strategy and the main functional areas of global business organisations.

  • Identify, analyse and critically assess organisational issues within an international and community context using appropriate concepts, models or techniques, and suggest relevant, innovative and creative solutions.

  • Apply a range of skills that are transferable within a business context and increase employability, such as problem-solving, information presentation, evaluation and analysis, and effective use of technology for business application.

  • Act as an independent learner (in both educational and business settings) and play a full role when working in and across teams, in order to be effective in a graduate-level role * Communicate in non-verbal and verbal formats appropriate to a specific global business context, including digital communication

A 10-credit module consists of 100 hours of learning, which comprises a mix of directed and self-directed study.

A 20-credit module is structured similarly and consists of 200 hours of learning. During your study, you’ll have access to an experienced team, including associate lecturers, progression coaches and student experience officers, who will support your studies through regular feedback and dedicated live seminars.

This course is international in nature, drawing on business practice and real-life case studies from all over the world. Furthermore, the international experience of the course team means you will benefit from content and case studies from Asia, Middle East, Europe, Africa to mention but a few.

Unconditional offers

We want to recruit the best students to Coventry and having assessed applicants' past, current and predicted performance and commitment to the course we feel that it is appropriate to reward consistently high-achieving students with an unconditional offer from Coventry University. It is a commitment from us with regard to an applicants’ potential as an excellent undergraduate and we hope that this will encourage such applicants to join the Coventry community. Personal statements and references will also be taken into account and, for some degree courses, an interview will form part of the assessment. The criteria for unconditional offers will vary across the University as entry requirements for specific courses differ and not all degree courses will be taking part in the Scheme.

We will consider other qualifications for a pre-result unconditional offer providing that you have an appropriate proven performance at GCSE (or equivalent) level and predicted grades in line with grades that we expect to see at A-level. Other qualifications that we may consider for a pre-result unconditional offer include: The International Baccalaureate Diploma, BTEC Level 3 qualifications, Cambridge Pre-U and combinations of qualifications (e.g. BTECS plus A-levels).

An unconditional offer is what it says it is. So, if you don’t meet your predictions then your place at Coventry is still guaranteed. However, we would hope and expect that you continue to work hard to make the most of your potential and be best prepared to study at university level.

We can’t but our experience over the years has shown us that students with a track record of high grades and excellent predictions are very likely to achieve those grades. Our assessment takes into account all elements of your application to allow us to take a holistic view of your potential. There is also the opportunity to apply to one of the Coventry University Scholarships if you achieve the required grades so there is a financial incentive to aim high. Unconditional offers are only made to individuals who have demonstrated their commitment so we believe their focus and determination is unlikely to waver in the final stages of their qualifications.

No, the unconditional offer is only available to those who will take up their place in 2019.

Tuition Fees

We pride ourselves on offering competitive tuition fees which we review on an annual basis and offer a wide range of scholarships to support students with their studies. Course fees are calculated on the basis of what it costs to teach each course and we aim for total financial transparency.
