Your graduation is the culmination of your studies and is an important event for you and your family and friends.

With restrictions set to ease in the coming months, we are looking ahead and making plans for upcoming graduations.

Although we will continue to legally confer awards ‘in absentia’ and post certificates to graduates, we intend to resume in-person graduation events later this year so long as government guidance and requirements allows.

We will send your official certificate by post (including to our overseas graduates) as soon as your award has been conferred by the University’s Conferment Committee. It’s important that we have the correct address to send your certificate to, so please be sure to update your correspondence address on SOLAR by the 2 July 2021. Your correspondence address is where you want your post sent to and it may be different to your term time or home address, so be sure to update the correct one; there is a tick box at the bottom of the screen.

Please note that the University is not responsible for any certificates not received. If this happens and you require a replacement then you must order via the online shop and pay the appropriate fee.

If you are searching for a job or plan to go on to further study, a prospective employer or university can still check your award with our verification partner by following the simple instructions at Hedd. You will also receive your electronic results letter from your Faculty.

As an alumni, you will receive regular news about events, reunions and ways to get involved. It’s really important that we have the most up to date contact details for you so that we can keep in touch with you and let you know you about these opportunities. Graduation Announcement -Summer 2021

We intend to hold our autumn ceremonies as usual for all students later this year. More details will be sent to your university email account soon.

If you are due to be awarded between now and July, your certificate will be posted during August, and if you are awarded in September, your certificate will be posted by the end of November, to the correspondence address on your student record. You can check the address we hold for you by logging onto SOLAR. There is an option to set your correspondence address to the same as your home or term address or a different address entirely. This applies to all our students studying at all of our campuses.

We are incredibly proud of every single one of our students, completing your studies in this extremely difficult period. We know how important graduation is to you and your families, and we are pleased to let you know that we have created a new way to celebrate graduation virtually while we are not able to gather in person. Things aren’t the same as usual but we don’t think this should get in the way of you formally graduating with classmates, and marking your achievement at this time.

We recognise that the act of coming together is important, and we will do everything we can to bring people together for a celebration in the future. Once we are able, we will be inviting people to a celebration event. We can’t predict when this will be or what form it will take but we will make sure that you get plenty of notice.

January 2020 – January 2021 graduates

All graduates who completed their studies between January 2020 and January 2021 were given the opportunity to attend a virtual celebration, in place of the events cancelled as a result of COVID-19 restrictions. It has always been our intention to invite our graduates back to attend an in-person celebration event, and we are pleased to announce that we plan to hold graduation festivals this September, subject to government guidance and requirements.

Coventry University graduation ceremonies are considered to be public events. There may be a university photographer present and by attending you give us permission to use any general crowd photos you appear in for marketing purposes.

Coventry University does not accept responsibility and expressly excludes liability to the fullest extent permitted by law for:

  • Any loss or damage to any personal property left unattended during an event organised by the university unless caused by the negligence of the university or its employees; or
  • Death or any personal injury suffered by you at a university event unless caused by the negligence of the university or its employees.
