Graduation
After successfully completing your course at CU Scarborough, you'll be able to attend a graduation ceremony. Please note the CU Scarborough graduation ceremonies only take place once a year.
Your graduation is the culmination of your studies and is an important event for you, your family and friends. Every year, the ceremony is created to ensure a truly stunning occasion and a lasting memory.
The next CU Scarborough graduation event will be: Wednesday 2 October 2024.

Students who are eligible to graduate in October 2024 will be sent essential information relating to the ceremony directly to their student email account closer to the time. Please ensure you check your student email account regularly.
To be eligible, your award results must have been released to you via SOLAR, by no later than 9 August 2024.
Please note, if you are a nursing student studying at CU Scarborough your results will be released slightly later, on or before 11 September 2024. Therefore, your window to register for the ceremony may be slightly shorter. If your results are not published on SOLAR by 11 September 2024 you will not be eligible to attend the graduation ceremony in October 2024 and will be invited to our next ceremony at CU Scarborough instead.
Results released via AULA are not official results.
Facts about the day
Please note: You cannot choose which ceremony to attend. The CU Scarborough graduation ceremony only takes place once a year. You will be invited to the next ceremony closest to the date you have been officially awarded by your Progression and Award Board. You may only request to defer your ceremony if you have extenuating circumstances such as serious medical condition, for yourself or your allocated guest or military deployment etc.
You will need to email Graduation.cug@coventry.ac.uk to make a request if you have grounds and provide third party evidence to support that request. If any of your allocated guests require a carer you will also need to contact Graduation.cug@coventry.ac.uk to make this request and provide third party medical evidence to support this.
Any requests for deferring or carers tickets need to be made by no later than Friday 20 September 2024.
Gowning and photography information
Please note that once you have registered for the ceremony you will need to pre-order your gownvia the Ede & Ravenscroft website. Information on gown hire and photography service deadlines will be provided in the essential information and registration correspondence referred to above.

Coventry University Group graduation ceremonies are considered to be public events. There may be a university photographer present and by attending you give us permission to use any general crowd photos you appear in for marketing purposes.
Coventry University Group does not accept responsibility and expressly excludes liability to the fullest extent permitted by law for:
- Any loss or damage to any personal property left unattended during an event organised by the university unless caused by the negligence of the university or its employees; or
- Death or any personal injury suffered by you at a university event unless caused by the negligence of the university or its employees.
The Coventry University Group has the right to refuse you and your guests entry to the event if you are late or if you are abusive to staff or other guests attending the event. The registration desk will close 30 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony. If you arrive after this time you will not be permitted entry to that ceremony. The University is not obliged to offer you an alternative ceremony under these circumstances.
Once you have collected your tickets you must ensure you enter the venue 30 minutes before the event is due to start. If you do not arrive 30 minutes in advance the doors will be closed and you will not be permitted to enter. This is to avoid disruption to graduates and guests who have arrived on time and are seated waiting for the event to begin. The University cannot be held responsible for any costs incurred.
