What is Clearing?
Clearing is a period where universities fill the places they still have available on their undergraduate courses. It's also a way for you to find a place if you haven't been accepted by your firm or insurance choice universities.
-
When is Clearing?
Clearing opens on the 5 July 2022. You can get in touch with us at any time to discuss your options and to find out how we can support you through the process. Clearing officially ends on the 18 October 2022.
-
Who can apply through Clearing?
You can apply through Clearing via UCAS if you:
- Applied after 30 June
- Didn't receive any offers (or none you wanted to accept)
- Have declined your firm place, and so are not holding any offers
Students wishing to enrol onto our part-time or postgraduate courses do not need to apply through UCAS and should apply directly through our website or get in touch with our admissions team.
-
How do I know if I am eligible for Clearing?
If you apply to us after the 30 June 2022 (the last standard UCAS application date) then you will automatically be applying through Clearing.
If you applied to us before the 30 June but have not received any offers, then your UCAS Track account will tell you if you are eligible.
-
What courses are in Clearing?
We will publish a list of courses available when Clearing opens in July. Courses in Clearing will be clearly marked on our website. In the meantime, take a look at our course list.
-
How do I know if I have the right grades for Clearing?
Search our website to find out if your course is in Clearing and then give us a call to discuss your personalised Clearing offer. We will launch our tariff point calculator nearer the time to help you work out your grades.
-
Can international students apply through Clearing?
Yes. You can apply to study at Coventry University as a non-UK resident. Take a look at our International applicants page for more info.
-
Will I be treated differently if I come through Clearing?
Not at all. Students who join us through Clearing will start their course in September 2022 with the same treatment and quality of teaching as all other students. We’re happy to have you with us.
-
How can I prepare for Clearing?
Remain positive and begin to gather a list of universities that offer the course you’d like to study. Most universities will have a specific Clearing hotline number you can call nearer the time, ours is 02476 888 888. Read more about our top tips on how to prepare for clearing.
-
If I’m not available to call or email the university, can someone else do this on my behalf?
Unfortunately, due to data protection purposes, we cannot discuss general information with someone other than you as the applicant.
The exception to this is if you have a nominated person included on your UCAS application and they contact us on your behalf. If you think you’ll need to speak to us about a Clearing place, we advise that you are available to contact us so that we can help you find a suitable course.
-
Will I find accommodation?
Coventry University and CU Coventry provides guaranteed accommodation for students accepted through Clearing. Visit our accommodation page for details on what’s available and how we can support you.
-
How do I sort out my Student Finance?
If this is your first time applying to university you will need to apply for finance through the Student Finance England website. The initial deadline may have passed but your application will still be processed.
If you have already applied but have changed university you will need to contact Student Finance England to update your application as soon as you have confirmed your choice.
-
What happens after I receive a Clearing offer?
After you receive a Clearing offer to study at Coventry, you will receive an email with what steps you’ll need to take next, which will include any deadlines.
-
What should I do if I have an offer somewhere else?
You can decide to turn down your original offer and choose us in Clearing instead. You can do this through a process known as ‘self-release’. Simply sign into UCAS Track, click ‘Decline my place’ on the homepage and follow the instructions.
