Clearing process FAQs

What courses are in Clearing?

You can browse all courses starting in September 2024.

How can I prepare for Clearing?

Get organised and take control, you've got this!

Put together a list of universities that offer the course you want to study. Most universities will have a specific Clearing hotline number that you can call nearer the time.

What happens after I get a Clearing offer?

After you get a Clearing offer to study at Coventry, you’ll get an email to explain the steps you’ll need to take next and any deadlines you need to be aware of.

Need to work out your points?

If you know your results and need to calculate how many UCAS Points they translate to, you can use our handy UCAS points calculator. Once you know how many points you have, search for a course to get started.

Already holding offers?

If you already have offers from other universities, but you’ve changed your mind, you may still be able to use Clearing through the 'decline my place' option. Our Clearing advisers will be able to help you understand your options.

What to do next?

Call us to see if we can offer you a place or offer advice.

If you receive a verbal offer to study at Coventry, you will receive an email with what steps you’ll need to take next, which will include any deadlines. To find out more read our Clearing offer page.

Clearing support FAQs

Can someone else call or email the university on my behalf?

Unfortunately, due to data protection purposes, we can’t discuss general information with someone other than you as the applicant.

The only exception to this is if you have a nominated person included on your UCAS application and they contact us on your behalf.

If you think you’ll need to speak to us about a Clearing place, we recommend you contact us yourself so that we can help you find the right course for you.

Will I be able to find accommodation?

Coventry University and CU Coventry provide guaranteed accommodation for students who join us through Clearing. Check out our accommodation page to find out what’s available and how we can support you.

How do I sort my student finance?

If this is your first time applying to university you’ll need to apply for finance through the Student Finance England website. The initial deadline may have passed but your application will still be processed.

If you’ve already applied but have changed university, you will need to contact Student Finance England to update your application as soon as you have confirmed your choice.

What should I do if I have an offer somewhere else?

You can decide to turn down your original offer and choose us in Clearing instead. You can do this through a process known as ‘self-release’.

It’s easy to do, you just sign into your UCAS Hub, click ‘Decline my place’ on the homepage and follow the instructions.
