TeleSCoPE

The TeleSCoPE project is developing a European Code of Practice for Telehealth Services and involves 12 partners in 6 EU countries.

The importance of this project cannot easily be overstated in view of the speed by which telehealth technologies are emerging (including mobile applications). Added to this are first, the demographic and social changes that mean there are growing numbers of people with health and support needs; and second, the imperative, if we are to avoid a collapse in the current systems that deliver our health services, of our becoming increasingly the managers of our own health.

The framework and key parameters for the code will be tested and refined over the next 18 months in readiness for a launch in April 2013 and, it is envisaged, adoption within Member States.
