PROJECT OBJECTIVES

This project is a randomised controlled trial to evaluate the effectiveness of a reading intervention aimed at Key Stage 1 in primary schools, running from Sept 2014 – July 2016. Over 50 schools across the West Midlands are taking part in the trial. The intervention is implemented by the schools’ own Teaching Assistants and is supplementary to the schools’ own literacy provision. The evaluation will assess the impact on a range of literacy skills, including word decoding skills and comprehension.
