Course overview

You’ll find diverse career opportunities in cybersecurity. As well as purely technical roles, graduates now venture into security operations, management, forensics and beyond.

This course is designed for graduates with a computer science background who wish to broaden their skills, or for computing professionals who wish to move into cyber security. You also have the option to focus your studies on a specific, specialised area of expertise as outlined below.

  • Cyber Security MSc is ideal for those seeking a broad understanding of cyber security without specialising in a specific domain. It is designed for you if you want a more general knowledge of the subject, with a computer science focus in secure software development and cryptography.
  • Cyber Security (Digital Forensics) MSc is designed for you if you want to focus on a career in the digital forensics and incident response field of security. Alongside the broad background in cyber covered by the core modules, you'll learn how information stored on computer systems and networks can be used as part of an investigation into security incidents, alongside the legal considerations of such investigations. This makes the degree ideal if you wish to enter a career in organisations such as the police.
  • Cyber Security (Ethical Hacking) MSc is ideal if you're seeking to specialise in security roles within the ethical hacking and penetration testing domains. It has been designed to give you a background in cyber, alongside a specialised module in ethical hacking.
  • Cyber Security (Management) MSc is designed for you if who want to enter careers in information security management. In the specialist module, you'll learn about the management and mitigation of security risks through policy and business strategy. This makes the degree ideal if you wish to enter a career with a focus on managing the processes and technologies that make systems secure.
