Keith chatting to a student at the CU Coventry campus

Keith's story

Keith has been a sports lover since he was young. He was on a Hong Kong under 18’s volleyball team and on track to become a 100m sprint athlete, before sustaining an injury that meant he could no longer pursue athletics professionally.

Keith was still keen to do something related to sports, so he chose to study the Sports Science International Foundation Year at Coventry University with the intention to progress onto a sports science degree.

I wanted to come to Coventry University because its course ranking in the Sport and Exercise Science BSc (Hons) is higher than other universities I was considering.

The academic support is really good here! The teachers are always assisting us and can provide me with any help I need. Since we are not local students, they even took us to some local markets and good restaurants in Coventry when we were settling in.

My English class has around eight students. I like it because the teachers can focus on a small group of students. There are also a lot of opportunities to interact with other students because teachers ask us to group together and discuss lessons. In Hong Kong, we were mainly taught techniques to pass the exam, but teachers here will teach you actual transferrable skills.

If you want to have a special experience, come to Coventry University. It has made our university life more unique in a way that other universities couldn’t give us.
