Welcome to International Students

Welcome to International Students

On behalf of all of us in the School of Humanities, welcome! We are delighted you have chosen to study with us here in Coventry in one of our disciplines.

We have a very strong internationalisation focus in this school and pride ourselves in involving our students as partners in our learning and teaching journey. We have many support structures available to you, and your Course Directors will be able to provide you with all the information needed to make the most of them.

We also provide you with the opportunity to visit other countries in the world, for both study and work purposes. We moreover offer work-placement opportunities, both paid and unpaid, to all our students, some have for example taught their language (e.g. Hindi, Mandarin, Arabic) to staff.

Our students greatly value the multicultural environment we have in the school and in the university. You will meet people from around the world and from this city; we all benefit greatly from the lively mix of culture, language and global experience you bring to the international community that is Coventry University.

I very much look forward to meeting you and wish you all the best in your studies.

Dr Marina Orsini-Jones, Associate Head of School (International)

Summer Schools

English Language and British Culture - Intermediate Level

The English Language and British Culture programme has been developed to equip students with the necessary language skills to study in the UK, and our experienced staff are there to guide, support and encourage.

All students will take part in our fieldtrips, which will give them an opportunity to visit local areas of interest and consolidate their knowledge. This will include a day-trip to Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare as well as the Black Country Museum where they can experience the true history of the West Midlands.

English Language and British Culture - Advanced Level

The English Language and British Culture Advanced Level programme is designed for participants who may be more confident in their ability with the English language. This programme will support in increasing the confidence, competence and knowledge based around the language and culture within Britain.

Our experienced staff are there to guide, support and encourage participants, challenging them in their thoughts and with theory. They will deliver the programme through a range of interactive sessions and group exercises which will offer a welcoming environment for all to share their experiences. There will be ample time for critical reflection on the use of the English language in various settings.
