Coventry University has a large and very successful school of Nursing, Midwifery and Health, ranked 4th for Nursing and Midwifery in the Guardian University Guide 2020.
There are a number of courses with multiple start dates, designed to enable you to enter the healthcare workforce in a variety of important and rewarding roles including some of the less well-down areas of specialism including Learning Disabilities Nurse, Mental Health Nurse, Children and Young People’s Nurse and Nursing Associate. You will be taught in the £60m Alison Gingell Building which features mock wards, ambulance and ITU to provide you with a realistic and immersive learning experience.

Nursing Associate Foundation Degree
A new role in the NHS, Nursing Associates are an important part of the team delivering high quality care to patients in a variety of clinical settings.
This two year course enables you to qualify as a registered Nursing Associate with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and can also act as a springboard to pre-registration Nursing training through entry in to the second year of a BSc Nursing degree.
Mental Health Nurse
Awareness of the importance of good mental health has increased across many areas of society in recent years. This course is designed to equip you with the knowledge and competence to understand the experiences of people with mental health problems and to assist and facilitate their journey to recovery. From the outset, you’ll gain hands-on experience with real service users under supervision from qualified mentors, spending 50% of your time on clinical practice placements to put your knowledge and skills to good use.
Learning Disabilities Nurse
As an advocate for people with learning disabilities, in this role you have the opportunity to make a powerful difference to the quality of life and life-chances of people with learning disabilities. During the course you will be taught how to communicate the value of people with learning disabilities as equal citizens, and recognise that they have a real contribution to make to your development as a caring professional nurse in this field of practice. You will have the opportunity to study and develop specialist skills in communication, comprehensive health assessment, equality, and issues related to professional practice.
Children and Young People’s Nurse
Children and young people have very specific needs when it comes to their healthcare. This course is designed to give you the skills and knowledge required to play a vital role in the journey of children and their families, during very challenging and difficult times. You will not only focus on acute/hospital settings, but also on community children’s nursing, supporting children with long-term chronic conditions, health visiting and child and adolescent mental health services.
Adult Nursing
As an adult nurse you can provide care to a wide range of patients in a variety of clinical settings, Coventry’s ‘learning through exploration’ approach provides an exceptional learning environment. You will learn through a range of scenarios using the latest technology to role play various evolving clinical situations, which helps to embed your understanding and aims to priocide an immersive and enjoyable learning environment.
