AHRC Doctoral Landscape Awards

We invite EOIs from both UK and international applicants:

• Candidates must meet our entry requirements:
• Coventry University's entry criteria.

And in addition to the entry requirements applicants must have a Master's degree or Equivalent professional experience relevant to your proposed area of study.

• 6 Studentships
• A full tuition fee waiver
• A maintenance grant for 3.5 years (full time) or 7 years (part time)
• Access to sector-leading training, additional funding opportunities, and a thriving cross-institutional research network

Please clearly include the Centre (further information below) your research is aligned to in the title.  Unless a Centre is provided we will not be able to progress your Expression of Interest further.

Your EOI should be a maximum of 750 words. It should outline your proposed research idea and demonstrate your preparedness for doctoral study. Depending on the nature of your project, you may wish to consider including the following:

• Provisional title of your research project
• Research rationale

What problem or challenge does your project address?

Why is this topic important now?

What contribution might your research make to existing knowledge or practice?

• Research questions

The key questions or themes your project will explore.

• Context and literature

A brief overview of relevant scholarship or practice.

How does your project build on, extend, or challenge existing work?

• Research approach and methods

What methods will you use (e.g. interviews, archival research, creative practice, textual analysis)?

Why are these appropriate for your research aims?

• Data and ethics (if applicable)

What sources will you draw on?

Are there any ethical considerations?

• Analytical approach

How will you analyse your material or develop your arguments?

• Provisional timeline

A brief outline of how you expect to structure your research over the course of the PhD.

• Key references

A short bibliography of relevant or inspiring texts.

• Potential supervisors at Coventry University (if known)

We are currently seeking Expressions of Interest from prospective applicants who seek fully funded PhD studentships at Coventry University for September 2026, supported by the AHRC Doctoral Landscape Awards.

Please Note: The EOI link will direct applicants to the Centre for Postdigital Cultures – Affirmative Disruption and Open Media research area (Course code: CPCR002), don’t worry, this is simply a mechanism for us to review all EOIs. The awards are open to PhD projects across the arts and humanities.
