If you have a passion for cars and an enthusiasm for engineering and design, these courses could lead to careers in a range of fast-paced industries.

  • Coventry University has a long and prestigious automotive heritage, with extensive links to companies such as Jaguar Land Rover, Tata, Prodrive, Geely and Lotus.
  • Our automotive and motorsport MEng/BEng courses are professionally accredited – and upon successful completion, could be the first step to becoming a Chartered Engineer.
  • You will have access to industry-standard facilities*, which include two full motion Cruden F1 simulators, engine test cells, state of the art robotic milling, and our Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 wind tunnel.
  • You could have the opportunity to participate in field trips*, which have previously included observing crash tests at the GM Milford site, and a tour of the Ford F150 factory in Detroit, USA.
  • You could work on industry-related projects for companies such as Mercedes-AMG Petronas or Veitis Motorcycles, to practise and apply your skills to real engineering projects.
  • You will have the option to apply for a one-year professional work placement or study abroad in a partner institution following your second year*.
  • We seek to deliver an education informed by industry and research. Our research expertise ranges from development of autonomous vehicles, e-mobility, welding and joining, to 3D printing applications.

Cruden F1 simulators 

Our industry-standard simulators provide a realistic experience of working for a race team in a high-pressure environment. The simulators include the same software and calculations used by professional racing teams.

Wind Tunnel

Built and tested by the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS Formula One team, our open jet single return wind tunnel has been designed to accommodate 20 per cent scale open-wheel racing car models, with a maximum air velocity of 45 m/s.

High Performance Engineering Centre (HPEC)

HPEC is home to flight and driving simulators, a chassis design assembly, a vehicle test facility and wind tunnels. It also houses a fleet of CNC manufacturing machines, a full-sized vehicle shaker rig and a composite material laboratory.
