Our research
The Centre for Intelligent Healthcare aims to become a globally recognised research centre for pioneering and opinion-setting research in the area of digital healthcare and its contribution to improving communities and enriching and prolonging individual lives.
The greatest challenge facing our healthcare system is how to maintain the health of the population and reduce the burden on the NHS. This is especially important now when there is an increase in the prevalence of long-term conditions. So enabling each of us to monitor our health at home or in the community rather than in hospital would lead to benefits both for us and for the NHS.
This aim requires the generation of new means of remotely identifying and managing illness and preventing poor health, but for these to be acceptable, they need to be underpinned by robust research evidence and the mission of the new Centre for Intelligent Healthcare is to provide this evidence.
