C-DaRE Seeking Researchers

The Centre for Dance Research (C-DaRE) at Coventry University is a world leading research centre working on ideas that matter to how we live our lives in this first part of the 21st Century. Ideas like the way humans feel and sense our bodies, and how this knowledge helps to understand movement, creativity and emotion; the role of digital technologies in representing and archiving human experience; developing and understanding somatic and choreographic practices; the value of understanding human interactions and social exchanges as choreographic entities; and developing new ways of thinking about copyright and accessibility by investigating choreographic practice.

Embodied knowledge is at the core of our research, as we explore how dance intersects with other disciplinary fields. You can read about our inter-disciplinary work, where you will see that we are also always looking for new ways to think about the world, and the ideas, patterns, actions and people that build it. 

This message is an effort to reach thinkers, scholars and artists whose ideas and work do not, at first glance, seem to intersect with our work. To seek surprising connections; to build new relationships that are mutually beneficial, and that might lead to unlikely collaborations. 

We have no pre-conceived notions of what it is that you do as scholars, and where it is that you do it, but if you are looking for ways and opportunities to expand or adapt your own domain of research, and are not already working in dance and performance, we'd love to hear from you.
