Dr Paul Sissons was invited by the Korea Labor Institute to give a presentation on ‘Local skills strategies in the UK: a review of recent approaches and current policy’ as part of a seminar focused on ‘New Approaches to Implementing Local Employment Strategies’.
The seminar was held in Seoul on November 14th and included contributions from Korea, Canada and Japan. The seminar programme is available here: New Approaches to Implement Local Employment Strategies
The aim of the seminar was to bring together experiences and learning from other countries to help inform Korean approaches to local employment and skills policies. Paul’s presentation provided an overview of national skills policy in the UK over the past decade, an analysis of recent experiences of developing local skills strategies, and highlighted a number of key learning points.
