City of Culture: We’ve Done It!

The winner for City of Culture 2021 has just announced... and it's us!
We're so proud! #ThisIsCoventry

Well done to all of those who were involved in the City of Culture Bid and to those who made this amazing opportunity happen.

Over the last year we’ve seen many events take place for City of Culture from: Museum of the Moon to Crafts of the Punjab, Cinderella and so much more. We hosted over 50 hours of workshops with artists, cultural and voluntary organisations. Now we have been told that we have been named the next UK’s City of Culture and will hold the title in 2021 beating Swansea, Paisley, Stoke-on-Trent and Sunderland and we are thrilled!

From new job opportunities and thriving events to enjoy to more places to eat, drink and shop, winning will have positive impacts on our city and the community. We have an excellent culture here in Coventry already, since we are multicultural city, but we cannot wait to see what winning City of Culture 2021 brings for us in the near future. We are ready to promote arts and culture further as a means of celebration and regeneration.

Our city continues to defy expectations. Everyone who helped make us UK City of Culture, including staff at Coventry University, backed the bid with heart and hard work.
