Course structure

The PSE Online Award is made up of ten short courses, plus the assessments programme, as follows:

Wk 3-11 Short courses 2-10 9 weeks 7hrs study per week
Wk 12-14 Assessment Programme 3 weeks 12hrs study per week

The Assessment Programme includes assessments on specified days/times.

The course supports multiple entry points throughout the academic year as detailed:

Assessments

There are six separate assessments which learners will need to successfully complete in order to achieve the PSE Online Award. These assessments are as follows: 

  • Reading Test
  • Listening Test
  • Timed Writing
  • Speaking Test
  • Recorded Presentation
  • Project written with tutor support.

Learners will work on the project over the three weeks of the Assessment programme and will be given individual tutorials to guide them. The final version of the project will be submitted at the end of week 14.

Other tutorials will be scheduled with individual learners during the Assessment programme, at a mutually convenient time.

Exam Schedule

The final assessments will take place in week 14, as follows:

  • Tuesday – Timed Writing (2 hours)
  • Wednesday – Reading Test (1 hour 30 minutes)
  • Thursday – Listening Test (1 hour 30 minutes)
  • Friday – Speaking Test (20 minutes). All assessments start at 12pm GMT , except the Speaking Assessment which will be scheduled individually with the learner.

Recorded Presentation – submitted by 9am UTC/GMT on Monday of week 15

Written Project– submitted by 9am UTC/GMT on Monday of week 15.
