Centre for Care Excellence at UHCW video transcript

Hello my name is Nina Morgan and I'm the Chief Nursing Officer at UHCW NHS Trust. I'm delighted to welcome you to our short video of what the Centre for Care Excellence means to both organisations and the people that work for us and with us on a day-to-day basis. I've been really proud working in collaboration with Coventry University particularly Dr Rosie Kneafsey and we've now got to the point where we're ready to launch the fantastic Centre for Care Excellence. It's all about innovation, it's all about leading excellent care in practice, in research and in education - that's pre and post reg and in improvements to the way that we deliver care for our patients.

Hello my name is Professor Jen Coad and I'm a children and family nursing professor at Coventry University, seconded to UHCW where I'm proud to say that with the R&D team and Nina Morgan Chief Nursing Officer, I've been part of a successful clinical academic research programme for nurses midwives and allied health professionals.

I'm very pleased to see the launch of the Centre for Care Excellence today. This is without a doubt a really important partnership between Coventry University and UHCW, and it's one that's been growing from strength to strength for the last five years. This new centre will now celebrate that partnership, enabling clinical and academic professional staff to undertake clinically relevant and clinically impactful research practice and innovation. The centre directly aligns to Coventry University’s strong values of partnership and to UHCW values of care, achieve and innovate.

Hi my name is Helen Eftekhari and I’m a Arrythmia and Syncope Advanced Nurse Ppractitioner in cardiology. In 2014, I finished my ANP Masters through Coventry University and have always been very interested in the research side of how we can improve patient care. In 2016, I was one of the first candidates on the Inca programme which was a collaborative work between UHCW and R&D at Coventry University. I successfully completed the Inca bronze and went on to do the silver MRes programme in 2019. I'm very pleased about the opportunity that's being offered to us as nurses as this will help to improve our patient care and I'm excited about the Centre for Care Excellence.

Hello my name is Jill Stokes, I’m a midwife at UHCW and I’m currently employed as the Antenatal Ward Manager. The Centre for Care Excellence means lots to me as it will provide the building blocks for midwives in the future.

Hello my name's Michelle Crane I'm a newly qualified Midwife working here at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire. I qualified last year in 2019 from Coventry University and through my student placements, I knew that this was the trust for me. The Centre for Care Excellence empowers me and my colleagues to provide excellent patient safety care and also the leadership skills and career progression if I require in the future.

Hello, my name is Claire Pheasant and I'm a registered Physiotherapist and Associate Director of Allied Health Professionals here at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. The key parts of my role is to work in partnership with Coventry University to support the development of the current and future allied health professional workforce. Research informed practice is a core principle of pre-registration training across the disciplines of allied health professions. The Centre for Care Excellence will provide excellent opportunities for allied health professionals to engage in research activity, which will lead to benefits for service users and staff in both organisations.

Hi my name is Adam Ryder, I've been employed as a Research Radiographer at UHCW for about two years now. I'm also doing a Master's in Research at Coventry University. The Centre for Care Excellence is going to provide a lot of opportunities for supporting a conductive environment for AHPs, nurses and midwives to be actively involved in research. In turn, we know that trusts that are actively involved in research, do have better patient outcomes so I think that's what we're going to get out of this Centre for Care Excellence.

Hello my name is Deborah Lycett and I am Professor of Religious Health Interventions and Dietetic Practice in the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at Coventry University.  I'm really excited about the Centre for Care Excellence as I think it's going to strengthen relationships and partnerships between rigorous research and clinical practice with service users’ needs and preferences right at the heart of it.

Hello I'm Deepa Muthu Krishnan, I'm a Macmillan dietitian and I'm currently doing NIHR pre-doctoral internship and I-care silver fellowship in our trust. For the early clinical researcher like me, exploring northern research areas Centre for Care Excellence with its collaboration and partnership will help connect to world-class experts and that means wider networking for excellence in care. I'm really, really thrilled for this launch and for all the opportunities it will bring.

Hi I'm Liz, I'm a clinical academic midwife and I'm already working in partnership with the University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire and Coventry University. I'm really excited about the new Centre for Care Excellence because I think it can drive collaboration with the multidisciplinary teams so that we can bring clinically and patient driven research into practice. This will have a beneficial effect on the patients that we serve, and the way that we deliver care.

Hi I'm Nicolas Aldridge I'm the lead nurse research and development of the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire and also the NIHR 70 research leader. The Centre for Care excellence is a fantastic opportunity for our centre to get involved in research and not only develop their own questions but also improve patient outcomes and patient care. We look forward to this exciting new venture.

I'm a registered nurse and the Associate Director of Nursing for Educational Research here at UHCW where we have a well-established and strong partnership with Coventry University pre-registration to advance level practice. I believe the Centre for Care Excellence will support the development and defending of excellence through partnership, improvement and learning, both for our staff in developing an evidence base and becoming the best of what they do through education and practice development, as well as research.
