Students on a range of energy management courses at Coventry University are continuing to benefit from state-of-the-art software that is made available to them by Petex.

Edinburgh based engineering company ‘Petroleum Experts’ (Petex) -  widely recognised as leading developers of computing tools for the oil and gas sector  -   have donated specialist software worth over £1.4 million to the university.

Petex have granted the university with a licence for its Integrated Product Modelling (IPM) software. Designed to analyse the infrastructure and efficiency of existing oil and gas fields and aid in the design of new fields, the IPM application is used by over 350 oil and gas companies across the world.

As such, IPM is an essential tool for those working in the centre and with Petex granting its licence to the university, students will now gain vital hands on experience of industry standard software to enhance their theoretical knowledge and thus bolster their chances of employment within the energy sector.

Coventry is one of a number of universities across the world to benefit from Petex’s IPM licence. Within the UK, other institutions using IPM include Aberdeen, Heriot-Watt and London South Bank.
