Dr Brittain was recently successful in a Framework 7 bid for a Marie Curie International Incoming Fellowship worth 300,000 Euros to bring a Brazilian researcher to the University for two years from September this year. Dr Leonardo Mataruna will be researching the topic ‘From the East End of London to the Favelas of Rio de Janeiro: The relevance and transferability of the social legacy programmes of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games’. As well as lecturing at several Universities in Rio de Janeiro Leonardo is also the Strategy Manager for the Brazilian Olympic Judo team.
