Coventry University’s Institute of Coding has been recognised at the West Midlands Tech Awards, which celebrates the best of the technology and digital industries throughout the West Midlands.

The Innovation in Education Award celebrates organisations using cutting edge digital approaches to enhance and revolutionise the learning experience.

Coventry University’s Institute of Coding is part of the national consortium. It aims to boost the UK’s digital skills from entry level upwards in areas such as data science and cyber security.

The Institute of Coding is a university partner within the national consortium and aims to boost the UK’s digital skills from entry level upwards in areas such as data science and cyber security. The National Institute of Coding has enrolled almost 28,000 learners onto digital online courses, over 20,000 of which were contributed by Coventry University.

A distinctive initiative, it offers a range of flexible delivery options from classroom based sessions to online and blended learning. It collaborates with industry partners across a variety of sectors to develop specific digital skills programmes. It also engages business that are digitally unprepared or need improvement by collaborating on skills assessment diagnostics and bespoke training.

The team will be hosting the first digital summer school in the UK next year following a successful bid.

We are honoured to have been recognised with an Innovation in Education award at the West Midlands Tech Awards. The Institute of Coding is a great example of universities and businesses working together to support digital skills in the UK workforce.
