As the fastest growing higher education institution in the UK, Coventry University now teaches one in every seven higher education students in the West Midlands. Coventry now has more than 30,000 students across its UK campuses and a total of 15,500 more worldwide.
The university is also one of the city’s biggest employers bringing skills and education to the region and helping to continue the growth of staff and student spending, job creation and graduate success.
Student spending brings in an extra 1,500 jobs to the local economy and more than £146million is spent in the city by full-time students. A further £8million is injected into the local economy from visiting family members and those visits also support a further 240 jobs.

Get the most out of your university
The small-scale engineering facility is open to anyone in the community wanting to teach themselves new technical skills. As well as training and events sessions, it offers printing, laser cutting services and runs children’s creative clubs.
The Students’ Union cinema screenings and new Comedy Box stand-up evenings are open to all members of the public and students throughout the year.
Access to the Lanchester Library for reference and study purposes is available to all members of the public, college students and sixth form pupils. The library also offers associate membership for borrowing, and visitor passes for regular access.
Learn a language from native speakers through the university’s Linguae Mundi programme. Short courses and classes are available in the daytime and evenings to teach over 30 different languages throughout the year.
The ‘Edible Campus’ was created to make use of an underused part of the grounds. It now offers vegetables, fruit, herbs and nectar-rich plants for the community and has won a Special Award for Innovation in recognition of the outstanding benefits it brings to the city.
The clinic is run by final year Sports Therapy students to offer treatment to members of the public under supervision of qualified staff.
As well as a supervised massage clinic, it provides advice, assessment and treatment for both acute and long standing problems.
