How to use Zoom

Meeting your course team and potential course mates via a video call is an exciting prospect, but it can feel a bit daunting, especially if it's a new experience.

When you book your slot, check your confirmation carefully to check whether it will be held on Zoom or Microsoft Teams. Both of these applications are free to use and are accessible on a mobile, desktop or tablet device.

Steps to a successful Zoom call:

1

If your invitation is for Zoom, your email confirmation will contain 'Zoom dial in details'. It's important to keep these somewhere you can easily access them, ready for your session.

2

Choose your device. If you're using a smartphone or tablet you can download the Zoom app by visiting your app store. If you plan to use a laptop or PC you can visit the Zoom website.

3

You can either use your existing Zoom account, set up an account or join without an account.

4

You can either click the link in your email and follow the prompts, or visit the app/website.

5

If you decide to enter via the app or website, choose 'Join a meeting' and enter the meeting ID. You may also be asked for the meeting passcode. You can find this information in your confirmation email.

6

We will need to be able to see and hear you, so please make sure your microphone, speakers and camera are all turned on. It is a good idea to test these before your session.

7

Please make sure your Zoom is displaying the same full name you use in your application. You may also need to make sure you've got your ID ready to show us 1:1.

8

If you want to test Zoom you can either set up a free account and set up a demo call, or you can join a test video call on the Zoom website.

9

If on the day you have any technical issues, please contact us as soon as possible by ringing 02477 652222. Technical issues won't have any impact on the outcome of your application, and if needed, we are able to arrange another interview if you are not able to complete the session.

10

We want the process to be accessible to all. If you are worried about anything then please get in touch with us by emailing ukadmissions@coventry.ac.uk and we will work together to find a solution.

11

Things don't always go to plan. If you don't join the interview session you have booked onto we'll be in touch to book you onto another one. The simplest way to make sure you don't lose out is by letting us know as soon as possible.
