This year’s seminar series continued with a seminar delivered by Kirsten Sims, a sustainability professional from Woolworths Supermarkets in South Africa.
The seminar looked at the sustainable management of food waste and packaging in the retail supply chain. Kirsten presented the ‘Good Business Journey’ programme of initiatives that sought the more sustainable use of a number resources. The Centre for Business in Society’s researcher, Jordon Lazell, also discussed the findings of his recent research looking at food waste and packaging in retail supply chains of Southern Africa. The seminar featured a further collaborative discussion between participants that unravelled the unique environmental and social context of these sustainability issues. Participant’s shared knowledge and compared potential solutions employed in both the UK and South Africa.
