Event details

This event is part of Coventry University's Festival of Social Science 2025.

This project brings together Culture Coventry (custodians of Coventry Transport Museum, the Herbert Art Gallery and Coventry Archive), Coventry Biennial, local communities, academics and 2D/3D scanning companies to explore how the creative sector can use digitisation to reach wider audiences and open up new revenue opportunities.

This two-day event will feature live demonstrations of how 2D and 3D objects can be digitised, alongside a public debate on what it takes for creators and copyright owners to digitise cultural assets, organise them effectively and generate income from them, while also engaging the public.

The sessions aim to:

  • Showcase ongoing work to support a sustainable creative ecosystem (such as CreaTech Frontiers and CWX).
  • Explore how communities, businesses and institutions can benefit from digitisation.
  • Develop a shared roadmap for making cultural data more accessible and valuable.

Who’s leading the event?

Dr Ben Kyneswood from the Research Centre for Creative Economies

Who's it for?

Open to all - especially relevant for anyone interested in culture or who wants to see cultural objects made more available and usable through digital technology.
