Event details

Join us for our second participatory day which seeks to foster networking, collaboration, knowledge exchange, and exploration of some transformative practices in Critical Dance Pedagogy. Engage in discussions and workshops around addressing social assumptions, structural power relations, and inequities within dance and dance education.

This second symposium event will delve into the themes of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion related to critical dance pedagogy thinking and practice. Hosted at Coventry University’s Centre for Dance Research (C-DaRE) and online, the symposium aims to connect academics, dance educators working in secondary, FE and HE, researchers, artists, and industry stakeholders, to foster networking, collaboration and knowledge exchange through discourse and practice.

The aims of the day and the Critical Dance Pedagogy Network are to: raise awareness of social exclusions within dance education; initiate change by deconstructing power structures; share some inclusive and transformative pedagogical practices; foster greater understanding of equity, diversity, inclusion, and student-centered pedagogy.
