Event details

The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, held in October 2022, took place at a crucial moment for both China and the world. It followed from 2017’s Congress, which established Xi Jinping as president for life. Since then, China’s zero-Covid policy, its ‘no-limits’ friendship with Russia, and increasing tensions with the United States over the status of Taiwan have compounded economic and political challenges, both domestically and internationally. In this webinar, Professor Jinghan Zeng will discuss the key themes arising from the Congress, and what it means for China’s place in the world.

Keynote

Jinghan Zeng, Professor of China and International Studies, Lancaster University
