Speaker biography

Dr Tom Bason is an an Assistant Professor in Sport Management and Course Director for BA Sport Management. He recently completed a PhD at Manchester Metropolitan University, entitled 'Every Loser Wins? Leveraging the Olympic Bid'.

Abstract

In recent years, the number of cities showing interest in hosting Olympic Games has declined, leading to a change in the bid process. The purpose of this study is to identify the ways in which Olympic bids can be leveraged for positive outcomes, regardless of the outcomes of the bid.
