Abstract

This seminar considers the Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) approach to consumer credit and assesses whether regulatory action taken by the FCA truly protects consumers. In particular, the impact of the cost caps on High-Cost credit are considered. Comparisons are made with the approach taken to predatory lending by regulators in the USA.
